CBT/REBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is commonly used in the National Health Service, often recommended by GPs as a form of talking therapy. CBT works on the principle that our thoughts influence our feelings, which in turn affect our behaviour. It focuses on changing unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that lead to negative emotional reactions.

Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) is a form of CBT. It helps individuals identify and change, deep rooted, irrational beliefs that contribute to problematic behaviours and emotional distress. The core principle is that it’s not events themselves that cause emotional reactions, but the beliefs we hold about them. REBT addresses issues like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, addiction, obsessive behaviours and physical symptoms like IBS; by challenging irrational beliefs and promoting healthier coping mechanisms and more flexible, rational thinking.
